Why I Wrote This Book

Somewhere in the writing, I realized I was doing more than trying to give words to my own grief.

I was leaving a testimony for my children and grandchildren—a blueprint for how to walk through life’s darkest valleys without allowing darkness to become sovereign over the soul.

Scripture declares that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.

So in these pages, I have done my best to seize the Squatter of Sorrow by the throat and refuse him permanent residence in the house of my thoughts.

This book does not pretend that sorrow does not hurt. It declares that sorrow does not reign.
